"This guy is goood. He is writing some great stuff." - TAJ MAHAL

"Kreg Viesselman's The Pull CD is one of the largely overlooked gems of Americana from the past couple of years...Viesselman's voice is a remarkable instrument...a talent to be watched..." -THE GLASGOW HERALD

KREG'S FAVORITE REVIEW OF ALL TIME:

"Despite having a name that sounds like a manufacturer of large turbine engines as in, "Oh, it’s powered by a Kreg Viesselman," this is, in fact, the kind of release that would have once got lumped by that terrible phrase "singer/songwriter." Nowadays, you’d probably find it in the Americana section; none of which really informs you of anything at all about the album. THE PULL is a real stew, the kind of atmosphere that came from listening to "The Basement Tapes" and the musical attitude of Lambchop. If you like the sound of all that, then this is very much your barrel of monkeys. Me, I think it’s a brave album from a guy with virtually no profile. He laces his compositions with a string quartet and a kora, which add a hint of otherness and Africa to certain tracks. The biggest surprise of all is that it was recorded right here in the good old UK, but then we do have a habit of making better American music than the Americans…” [Omitted here is a long, rambling tangent touching on everyone from Carlene Carter to Primal Scream, before returning to the review at hand…]  ”Oh look, I could go on, but I don’t have space. THE PULL is structured, melodic, and held together by the same glue that held together Hold Modal Rounders albums. Expect Viesselman in 10 years to be living in a backwoods cabin with a cotoye and the full moon for company.”  - The Chester Chronicle

"****...deep, intense and literary....a masterpiece...if you don't believe, just listen." - Buscadero Magazine, Italy

"It looked like he came from out of the nowhere, all of a sudden there was this beautiful album THE PULL...Who is Kreg Viesselman?" - Heaven Magazine, Holland

"I turn my head in disbelief when somebody like Kreg Viesselman appears out of the blue...embraced by DJ's and critics alike. The music bizz suddenly seems to make a bit more sense to me!" - by J.B., Insurgent Country

"With The Pull (Kreg Viesselman), a remarkable musician and singer  demands attention because he transforms his ideas… into perfectly  arranged songs." - Joachim (Joe) Brookes, www.rocktimes.de

December 2006 Complete Review of "The Pull" in Hanx Magazine, The Netherlands (Click here to read the English translation).

"Fantastic, raw...expertise within various roots genres...he writes it all down with a poetic strength." - Hanx Magazine (Bart Ebisch); translation from Dutch by Rein Van den Berg

"Enchanting simplicity...I really believe him when he sings." - ACOUSTIC MAGAZINE

"[The Pull is] one of the few albums which warrants the listener to hang onto the artist's every single word...without exception I found every song totally engrossing...Viesselman is an incisive writer who uses dazzling imagery...there are so many highlights it almost seems unfair to spotlight just one." - MAVERICK MAGAZINE, Five Star Review

"Rarely does a talent so exceptional and unique come along, this man deserves to be heard…" - Blues Matters, UK

“Through The Pull Viesselman has created his own small world. A world in which the listener feels comfortable and very much at home. His Blues, Soul, Gospel and Folk are exactly the beacons to bring some light into our grey world.” - Frank Ipach, Germany, http://www.home-of-rock.de

"Kreg's superb guitar playing and voice intertwine between each song - on the stand out song 'The Man Without A Care' he is joined by Boubacar Diebate on kora and vocals - the chorus tells us 'your life is unpredictable.. the future is uncertain.' Let's hope Viesselman finds a wider audience for this fine debut." - AMERICANA UK

“[The Pull] can compete for the title ‘Surprise of the Year 2006’… simply a CD which must be heard.” - Leo Kattestaart, Holland, www.altcountry.nl

"Viesselman's songs have a sage, hardened pathos that's hardly pretty-boy stuff. It's not exactly what he says, but how he says it, wherein the genuine power lies. He delivers silvery, potent lines that are killer in substance. No disappointment here, Viesselman has a charmed beauty all his own."
- DIRTY LINEN

“….outstanding, his voice touched me down deep and his songs are meaningful and melodically brilliant.” - Remo Ricaldone, Susa Onda Radio, Italy

“[The Pull is] a great record, I’ve been playing it for months.” - Karen Miller, UK, www.themillertellshertale.co.uk

“[The Pull has] 12 fantastic numbers.” - Rien van den Berg, Real Roots Café, Holland

“…soulful and powerful vocals.” - Maurice Dielemans, Kinda Muzik, Holland

“[The Pull is] a very fine album and it's one of the best records of 2006!” - Sjaak Sekeris, Real Roots Café, Holland

“Great, great music! [The Pull is] one of the best albums of the year.” - Theo Oldenberg, Alt Country Cooking, Holland

"Stunning" - NetRhythms.co.uk

"Viesselman's blue-eyed country-fried soul resides in that special realm that seems to defy the sands of time. Viesselman provides the perfect example here for young songwriters who are looking for the high road. Outstanding." - Indie-Music .com

"A real relief after listening to a stack of releases is this Kreg Viesselman. A real storyteller and a pure songwriter. The man writes great songs, it's pure enjoyment!" - RootsTown, Belgium

"Elemental songwriting...it's clear that Viesselman knows how to craft moving acoustic music." - WESTWORD, Denver, Colorado

"Revelatory. In short, Kreg Viesselman is a somewhat gruff voiced singer whose great strength is the ability to craft story songs which combine honest emotions with poetic, yet accessible, language..a damn fine guitarist and harmonica player." - THE GREEN MAN REVIEW, Portland, Maine

"Viesselman has the rusty voice of a classic singer/songwriter/straggle hell-bent on raking the dregs with his six string while showering souls with humorous and humane lyrics." - BOULDER WEEKLY

"Possibly the best new singer- songwriter I've heard all year is a young guy called Kreg Viesselman...he actually played our club last night and was a complete sensation. Two days earlier in Wales he'd gobsmacked no less a songwriter than Eric Taylor." - Gerry Evans, Twickehman Folk Club, Twickenham, England

"The gods were unquestionably onside for this much anticipated singer-songwriter feast. After an incident-packed three-week ramble around Ireland with his home on his back, this archetypal troubadour had the audience in the palm of his hand from the get-go. Kreg's blues-steeped guitar and harmonica work is matched with a voice that could be that of a man twice his age, a road-roughened yet deeply expressive instrument... Kreg will surely return - and in years to come, you'll be able to boast that you saw him here, first." - Andrew Hawkey, CAMBRIA ARTS, Tregaron, Wales

“I didn't know him. It is a complete discovery and I am really impressed.” - Mike Penard, ISA  Radio, France
